v2 Change(b)log
Here’s a list of improvements to Datum and Ring since the reviews were posted:
The adjustment range of the damper has been increased, softer tunes can now be achieved to better accomodate lighter riders. There’s no negative effect for heavier riders.
The concentric bottom bracket pivot is redesigned for improved sealing and to use the same bearing size in both the frame and the link.
Clearance for the dropper post cable as it passes over the bottom bracket shell between the down tube and seat tube has been improved with a bevelled CNC machined channel.
Frame fixtures have improved to increase manufacturing efficiency and reduce the need for post heat treat realignment.
The top tube diameter is increased 1.5mm to ease assembling the strut into the frame.
The shock lockring spline changed from the 44.5mm 16 tooth Shimano design to 46mm 12 tooth Zipp/RaceFace/Etc design.
Laser cut plates are now welded on the frame at the cable openings and around the shock adjuster to more securely hold the rubber grommets and improve appearance.
Change from anodized finish to Cerakote. It’s brighter, more corrosion resistant, just as lightweight, available in more colors, I’ve found it preferable in every way.
Change from decals which were prone to peelling to graphics which are masked into the Cerakote finish.
On Datum, rear travel has increased from 140mm to 145mm.
Yes, this blog post really deserves some photos. I’ll explain each of these changes in greater depth on Instagram please follow along here: @DigitBikes.
